Cynthia Jones Obituary

Cynthia Jones

February 28, 1946 - September 13, 2024

Cynthia "Cindy" Jeanne Jones passed away at 78 years old in the early morning hours on September 13, 2024. She was comfortable at home surrounded by her daughters, grandchildren, and her sister Cathy.

Cynthia was born on February 28, 1946, in Butte, Mont. She was one of 13 children, second born, and first daughter born to Pauline Regan and Paul Schutz.

From an early age Cynthia was strong willed and resilient. When she was young, she thought her name was Cynthia Jeanne Autry, after Gene Autry. She loved playing football and volleyball as long as she could also get "dolled" up.

She attended Butte schools and received her GED. She went on to graduate nursing school and obtain her LPN while raising three beautiful daughters. Cynthia started working at Warm Springs, but soon after switched to St. James Hospital where she worked for 23 years.

Cynthia married Russel Jones in December 1991. During the course of their marriage, Cynthia and Russel spend time traveling to see the ocean, flying in planes, sightseeing, and visiting Canada. Russel was able to inspire her adventurous side. She was a dedicated and passionate nurse. Cynthia had loving hands, but a stout foot. She handled everything life threw at her with grace and determination.

Cynthia was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards and dice with her best friends, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved and collected frog knick knacks. When health permitted, she loved to go to lunch with her "Lunch bunch".

Cynthia was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was the lighthouse in any storm, and the chord that held everyone together. To know Cynthia was to know love and light. She lit up every room she entered, and her jokes could make a sailor blush.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, Les Jones; mom and dad, Pauline Ford and Tom Regan; Grandma Ford; brothers, Jerry (Punkie) Schutz, Davey Bowser, and Petey Schutz; sister, Roxanne Whit; grandson, Saxon Walton; son-in-law, Tim Bennett; her true love, Gerry Grant; brother-in-law, Earl Ozanne; life long friends, Linda Haze, Ellen Hill, Louann Bennett; as well as many aunts, uncles, and family members.

Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Donna Bennett, Tammy (Steve) Billson, Roberta Schutz, all of Butte; stepson, Robert Jones; brothers and sisters, Cathy Woods, Paulette (George) Harder, Debbie (Jerry) Versella, Don Bowser, Pam Ozanne, Dale Bowser, John and Kim Bowser, Tommy (Lori) Regan; grandchildren, Justin (Katie), TJ (Whitney), Amber (Kevin), Jason, Nikita (Andy), Seth, Techia (Connor), Travis (Mariah) and Jolynn; lifelong friends, Claudia, Linda Keho, Linda Smith; and sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Alex Ham, Cynthia's dedicated home nurse.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Abundant Life Church, 630 W Iron St., Butte, Montana. Reception will follow at the church.
