Lacy Sandridge

June 4, 1949 - June 28, 2024

Lacy Edward Sandridge, Sr. died peacefully at home surrounded by family and his beloved dog, Hazel (who was and remains a complete tyrant to everyone but him). Preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Elmo.

Born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia is where a young Lacy honed his famously dry wit and found two of his greatest loves: his wife of 54 years, Alice, and the Virginia Tech Hokies. In 1979, Lacy, Alice, and young daughter, Mikki made the move to Arcadia, North Carolina, where their son, Ted, was born. Lacy had a career in insurance, and dedicated years to coaching youth sports in the community. He is fondly remembered as committed, supportiveand competitive! Sportswhether rooting for the Braves, Yankees, or especially the Hokiesmusic, and family were the heart of Lacy's life, including 4-legged family! Infamous for "stealing" the love of family pets and true to his mischievous spirit, Lacy is now almost certainly wearing a Tech t-shirt and tossing a ball or gifting forbidden snacks to Doby, Petie, Tippy, Chloe, Winslet, Dominic, and Freddie.

Lacy is survived by his wife, Alice, daughter Mikki, son Ted, daughter-in-law Amanda, sister Mary (Mike), sister-in-law Jacqui (Gary), brother-in-law Ray (Carlos), many cousins, nephews, nieces, and his loyal (only to him) dog, Hazel.

The family will host a Celebration of Life on September 21st in Durham, NC to share stories, memories, and cheer Lacy's favorite football team to victory (as painful as this may be to many family members with other collegiate allegiances). Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hi!
