Melvin Givens Obituary

Melvin "Pop" Givens, age 94, of the Big Creek Community, AR, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at CHI – Hot Springs. He was born on July 30, 1930 in Louisiana, the son of Jesse Eulis and Gracie Goodman Givens. Melvin worked as a self-employed logger for many years. He attended North Malvern Assembly of God. Melvin loved blue grass, and attending many festivals. He also enjoyed riding his side by side around his farm and checking on his cows.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Givens; son in-law, Carl Smith; and siblings, Eloise Holloway, Kenneth Givens, M. C. Givens, Polly Rayborn, Dorothy Miley, Eugene Givens.
Left to cherish his memory, son, David Givens (Diane) of Big Creek; daughter, Diane Smith of Sheridan; brothers, Aubrey Givens of Lebanon, TN and Ralph Givens of Monroe, LA; sister, Joyce Landry of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Robin Cotten (Norman), Adam Smith (Amber), and Brittany Moody (Justin); great-grandchildren, Dustin Morrison (Lauren), Jenna Davis (Drue), Shelby Williams (Blake), Lakyn Moody, Landon Moody, and Logan Moody; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 12th at 1pm at Regency Funeral Home Chapel, with the funeral service starting at 2pm, with Bro. Keith Pennington and Bro. Tony Burrow officiating. Burial to follow at Big Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Morrison, Justin Moody, Adam Smith, Glen Givens, Norman Cotten, and Nolen Morrison.
Honorary pallbearers are Drue Davis and Shannon Dyer.
