Beverly Zetts Obituary

Poland - Beverly "Bev" M. Zetts, 75, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Bev was born December 15, 1948 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (Jakubek) Skurich. She graduated from Struthers High School in 1967 where she enjoyed her time as a majorette and played the saxophone. She was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley. Bev worked for AT&T in Youngstown for over 30 years, where she started as a sales representative then operator and later became a planning engineer, before retiring in 2013. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Bev enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her free time, Bev treasured long lunches with family and friends, playing card games, where she belonged to several card clubs, playing golf, going to concerts and traveling. Bev was an avid fan and supporter of the Cleveland Browns. She was such a sweet and caring person that supported many charities including the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, the Animal Charity Humane Society and New Lease on Life animal shelters. Bev is survived by three daughters, Shannon Zetts of Poland, OH, Erin (Scott) Moore of Dublin, OH, and Lauren (Thomas Fletcher) Zetts of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Cameron Moore, Charlotte Moore, Josephine Fletcher, and Eloise Fletcher; a brother, Michael (Monica) Skurich; and a sister, Joann Avery; in-laws, nieces and nephews and many dear friends; and four-legged friends, Mac and Bunsen. Besides her parents, Bev was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Richard A. Zetts, whom she married on August 29, 1970 and died October 9, 2013; brother-in-law, W. Clark Avery and niece, Tammy Avery. In remembrance of Bev's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center for the love and care they showed her. Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman. There will be a prayer service on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Road in Poland with Fr. Martin Celuch officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville. Please visit www.beckerobits.com to share memories and condolences with Bev's family.

What a beautiful person inside and out. My heart goes out to her girls...it is hard to lose your Mom no matter how old you are...especially one like Bev. She was surely welcomed with open arena and smiles by all that loved her and went before her.
