Josephine Padilla Obituary

Josephine C. Padilla, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away October 16th at her retirement community in Altadena, California. The devoted wife of Ernest A. Padilla for over 50 years, Josephine was instrumental in the formation of his business, U.S. Guards, Co., which went on to prominence providing private security for The Beatles, Sonny and Cher and The Rolling Stones, among others.

A first generation American born of Sicilian immigrants, Josephine spent the first 14 years of her life in Rochester, New York, before heading with her family to the warmer climate of Los Angeles. After raising 4 children, including 2 from her husband's previous marriage, Josephine briefly resumed working in real estate, her career before marriage.

Always philanthropic, she donated to numerous charitable institutions including the Salesian Boys and Girls Club, The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, police and veteran's organizations and The Little Flower Missionary House, where her sister-in-law, Sister Mary Grace, once resided.

Renowned for her warmth, generosity, love of singing and beauty, Josephine is survived by her four children, son Jerry, daughters Yvonne, Yvette and Raena Padilla, four grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a loving extended family.

Services and entombment were held November 1st, 2023 at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills.
