Kendallville - Carolyn Sue Hicks, 75, of Kendallville, Indiana died Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

She was born March 22, 1950, in Shop Fork, Floyd County, Kentucky to Herbert and Daisy (Chaffins) Slone. They preceded her in death.

Carolyn retired from Pent Products in Rome City.

She was a member of Kendallville American Legion Post 86 and Kendallville VFW Post 2749.

Carolyn adored her great-grandchildren and found her greatest joy in spending time with them.

Surviving are a daughter, Tina Brown of Garrett; four grandchildren, Kali (Jesse) Hicks of Garrett, Dylan (Audrey) Downam of Kendallville, Dallas Downam of Kendallville and Joshua (Lauren Mayes) Brown of Fort Wayne; eight great-grandchildren, Dallas, Leah, Julis, Beckham, Rowan, Emmet, Daniel, and Isabella.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Hicks on February 11, 2022; a sister, Elvita Mullins; a brother, Lewie Slone; and the father of her children, Julis Hicks.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Jesse Hicks officiating.

Visitation will also be on Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Pallbearers will be Delbert Terry, Joshua Brown, Dallas Downam, Dylan Downam, Jesse Hicks, and Chad Brown.
