Clara Irene Leifheit, 101, of German Valley, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at Walnut Acres in Freeport. She was born November 20, 1919, in Chicago, the daughter of John T. and Clara E. (Dagitz) Hoffman and graduated from Parker High School in Chicago in 1936. Irene married Russell Fredrick Leifheit in Yorkville, IL on July 22, 1939. Together they farmed in Bristol, IL and then German Valley, retiring in 1976.
She was an active member of the Lutheran churches in Plano and Forreston. Loving the farm, Irene enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. She dearly loved spending time with her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Russell's family with whom she was affectionately called "Aunt Doll".
Irene is lovingly survived by her daughter, Judy (Don) Price of St. Charles; son, James (Barb) Leifheit of Davis; grandchildren, Scott Price of Geneva, Jason (Lacey) Price of Batavia, Kim (Michael) Cassidy of Davis; great-grandchildren, Evan Price of St. Charles, Anna Price of St. Charles, Aden Cassidy stationed at the United States Aviano Air Base in Pordenone, Italy.
Irene is predeceased by her husband, Russell Leifheit; sisters, Florence Kollman, Mabel Wilcox.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church, 402 S. 2nd Ave., Forreston, IL with Reverend Scott Ralston officiating. Interment 3:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery at 599 W. Somonauk St., Yorkville, IL. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established for Faith Lutheran Church.
