Sara Langston Obituary

Sara Trusty Langston
10/31/1955 - 03/04/2024
Sara Trusty Langston, age 69, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and friendship. She was born on Halloween in 1954 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a fitting start for a life that would be marked by a spirited pursuit of knowledge and exploration.
After graduating from San Marcos Baptist Academy, Sara pursued her passion for numbers and puzzles by studying accounting at the University of Texas at Austin. Her sharp mind and dedication led to a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, culminating in her promotion to partner at Main Hurdman. However, her greatest joy came from her role as a devoted mother and a globe-trotting adventurer.
Sara's thirst for knowledge extended beyond her professional pursuits; she was an avid reader, often devouring a book a day. Game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were among her guilty pleasures, adding excitement and laughter to her leisure hours. She spent hours fostering deep friendships, often hosting lively Mah-jongg and canasta games that brought friends and neighbors together for laughter and friendly competition.
Throughout her life, Sara called many places home, including Louisiana, Connecticut, Texas, Aruba, California, Australia, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Angola, and Singapore. Each new location brought with it new experiences and opportunities for growth, which she embraced wholeheartedly.
Above all else, Sara cherished her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Caroline Trusty, and her beloved son, Mark Langston Jr. She is survived by her two sisters, Becky Strauss and Jane Trusty, her brother, Lee Trusty, her children, Caroline Montalbano, Melissa Langston, and Christopher Langston, and her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth and Matthew Montalbano.
A memorial service to celebrate Sara's life will be held at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home on March 23, 2024. In honor of Sara's lifelong love of reading, contributions may be made in her memory to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library at https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/.
Sara will be remembered fondly for her warmth, intelligence, and unwavering love for her family. May she rest in peace, her spirit forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

I met Sara when I was living in Lagos Nigeria. I walked with her many mornings and traveled around West Africa with her and other friends. Sara was a such a wonderful person. I can still see her in my mind studying for her CPA license while we bounced down the road in central Ghana. She was a joy to be with and a good friend.

Just learned of your Mom´s death yesterday (July 15th). Sara befriended me in Nigeria when I was expecting my son and then our paths crossed again in Kazakhstan. Her son Christopher was about 11 then; We shared many walks. I have pictures of her on some wonderful adventures overseas together. She exuded fun, love and kindness galore. Love to you, her beautiful children. L.B.

I was so very sad to hear this news. Sara was my roommate at San Marcos Academy for two years. When we got homesick for Aruba/Venezuela we would go into town and buy a cake. She would eat all the frosting and I got what was left. She taught me a little bedtime rhyme and we recited it together every night. I have shared it with so many others. Becky, Jane and family: I know your hearts must be so very heavy. Please know that your sadness is shared by so many of us who enjoyed her friendship and were lucky enough to know her.
