Norbet Bultemeier Obituary

Norbert L. Bultemeier, 89, of Decatur, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at his residence. He was born on May 4, 1935, in Decatur, IN, the son of Charles C. and Clara (Buuck) Bultemeier. On April 17, 1959, he married Jeanette E. Krueckeberg, she preceded him in death on February 25, 2024.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Norb served his beloved country in the United States Air Force for 10 years and served in Air Rescue during the Berlin Crisis; he was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant.

Norb was a Past Commander of the American Legion Adams Post 43. In the ranks of the American Legion, he served as 4th District Commander from 1997 – 1998 and Department Vice Commander 2003 – 2004. He was also the Chairman for the National Security Council and escorted Presidents George H.W. Bush and William J. Clinton in Indianapolis. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 6236.

He began his working career at Detroit Wire & Die for 7 years and then to Dana Corp. for a year.
He was the manager of Doc Dancer Heating & Air for 30 years and then spent another decade at
Custom Car Care & Kelley Chevrolet.

He is survived by his 3 children, Carleen (Dean) Frank, Terry (Angela) Bultemeier, Denny (Tami) Bultemeier; a brother, Waldo (Rosie) Bultemeier; a sister, Ludella Bultemeier; 7 grandchildren, Alyssa (Andy) Estep, Aaron (Megan) Frank, Andrew Frank (fiancée Brooke Hardy), Derek (Alexa) Bultemeier, Chase Bultemeier, Brandon Bultemeier and Justin Bultemeier; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Norb was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette Bultemeier; 2 brothers, Arnold & Erwin Bultemeier.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, with visitation an hour prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Pastor Zachary Oedewaldt will be officiating and burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Preble. Military Graveside Rites will be rendered by the American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard.
