Ann's bio is a thrilling reminder of the way character declares itself, no matter the circumstances. I should say "Mrs. Kneisel's bio." After all, I was schoolmates with Bill at Hopkins. In those days you didn't call adults by their first names. If we did, "Pistol" would have been a great one. It takes one to know one. There was a time when Bill and I allegedly revised the Kneisel station wagon, probably in the middle of the night. Bold racing stripes from stem to stern, a racing machine! Did we get in trouble? Hardly. Mrs. Kneisel was bemused. What a contrast, I thought, to the serious tone of my own household. It wasn't just tolerance for the whims of kids. It was genuine enjoyment of our playful wildness. A big wink, a welcoming of spirit. I offer a deep bow, in fond memory of a warmhearted mom with very good taste in racing machines and a brilliant way of raising up hopeful youth. John Braman

I was a classmate of her son Bill Kneisel in Junior high school and our mothers were good friends. Ann became good friends with my Aunt Eileen here in Boston and I remember guffaws of laughter and Ann's loving voice, caring about women here in Boston. Best to Bill and your sibs. Liz Rodgers
