Sue VanderKam Obituary

Sue Ann VanderKam, age 81, of Byron Center, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 4, 2024. Sue enjoyed golfing, playing cards, baking, traveling, spending time with her family and going to her kids and grandkids activities and sporting events. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Gord; children, Douglas VanderKam, Dawn (Mike) Brock, Diane (Sally Strating) VanderKam, Donna (Rob) Lindhout; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Sorenson, Stephie Lindhout, Gordon Mai, Sam Brock, James Brock; sisters, Mary Douma, Karen (Leon) Bronsink, Norma (Howard) Glass, brother, Don (Donna) VanderVliet; brothers-in-law, Claire (Kathy) VanderKam, Bob (Ruth) VanderKam; sister-in-law, Glenda VanderKam; and many nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Florence VanderVliet; Gord's parents, Ed and Johanna VanderKam; and brothers-in-law, Wes Douma and Jerry VanderKam. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 8 pm and on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 10 to 10:45 am both at Friendship Christian Reformed Church, 190 100th Street, SE, Byron Center, MI. A Service of Celebration will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Friendship CRC with Rev. Dan Kinnas officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Sue may be made to the Staff at Commonwealth Senior Living in Cutlerville or Faith Hospice.
