MASON CITY - Dennis R. "Denny" Harris, 74, of Mason City, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City with Mark Doebel officiating.
Denny's family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to his service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Dennis Ray Harris was born on July 10, 1949 in Cordell, Oklahoma, the son of Claude Warren Harris and Hazel Irene Ainsworth.
Dennis was most proud of his family and time in the service.
Dennis met Debbie Kirk while in basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, they wed and had two children, John and Julie.
Dennis later met Nancy Harris while serving in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, they wed and had three children, Daniel, Kathleen, and Scott. Dennis and Nancy were married for 44 years until her passing in 2017.
He enlisted in the service in 1967, completed his training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and was stationed in Oklahoma, Germany, and Vietnam where he earned multiple medals, including multiple purple hearts.
Dennis enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, camping, and most of all, fishing. He enjoyed trips to the casinos and anything Sci-Fi. He cherished the time spent with his friends and family.
He is survived by his brother, Dale (Fleta) Harris; sisters in law, Nancy Bihary Harris, Clarene (Roger) Backer, Christine Whipple; children, John Harris, Daniel Harris, Kathleen (Tony) Corsello, and Scott (Tami) Harris; grandchildren, Jacob Fraser, Dillon (Whitney) Harris, Logan Harris, Ashley (Josh) Clemence, Blake Bowers, Taylor (Kaleb) Tyler, Catie Corsello, Braedon Bowers, Jenna Bowers, AJ Corsello and Devon Harris; many great grandchildren; and extended relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mom, dad, and stepdad, Irene (Herman) Snoddy and Claude Harris; brother, David Harris; wife, Nancy Harris; daughter, Julie Harris; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who he will be happy to reunite with!
