Richard Jones Jr. Obituary

Richard Herman Jones, Jr., known as "Rick" or more affectionately "Ricky," passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 63. He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Rick was born in Monroe, Louisiana on January 8, 1961 and was the oldest son of Richard Herman Jones, Sr., and Frances Thompson Jones. Growing up in Farmerville, Louisiana, he enjoyed fishing and riding 3 wheelers. He graduated from Farmerville High School in 1979. While there, he excelled in playing the baritone saxophone in the band. As a member of the School of Construction Honors Society, Rick completed his Bachelor's of Science in Construction at Northeast Louisiana University. After graduating in 1984, Rick joined the family business, A&B Concrete Coring. After spending many years working in the industrial market, he moved into the office and assumed his father's position as President. He excelled in the position and established himself as a well respected expert within the industry. On the weekend, Rick could always be found in the garden, yard, or working on home improvement projects. He also enjoyed buying broken watches and repairing them. He loved to travel around the country in his RV, and enjoyed his adventures on the open road. His humor was well known and loved among family and friends as he was known to "pick" on anyone in his path - especially those whom he loved. He proved to be a loyal man in all areas of his life, as a son, brother, father, and husband. Rick leaves behind his beloved wife of 11 years, Kathleen Mills Jones; his mother, Frances Jones; his children Adam Jones and, wife, Emily, their children, Evelyn and Will; Daniel Jones; Amanda Jones Castille and husband, Jakob, their children, Jonah and Jayce; Virginia Caronna and her husband, Frank, their son, Gavin, and his wife, Stephanie, and their son, Elijah; Stephen Rodriguez del Rey's children, Savannah and Casslyn; Andrew Rodriguez del Rey and his wife, Sara, and their children, Abbigail, McKenzie, Linkin, Luke, and Brooklyn. His brother, Jimmy Jones and wife, LaDawn. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be truly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Herman Jones, Sr., and son, Stephen Rodriguez del Rey. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 12:30p until service time at 2:30pm conducted by Fr. Bryan Owen. My name is Leisha Carruth. I am the mother of David Lathan Carruth. I just wanted to say how sorry I am hearing of Rick´s passing. I never met him, but was on the receiving end of his generosity when my mother passed away. He sent a beautiful flower arrangement just because my son worked for him. I really appreciated his thoughtful gesture. My son really liked him. I am sorry for your loss. May God bless your family. Leisha Carruth
