Marguerite Gillchrest Bromley

August 5, 1931 - October 30, 2024

Marguerite (Marge) Gillchrest Bromley, a longtime resident of Corvallis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the age of 93. Marge was born in Astoria, OR on August 5, 1931. Marge, a member of Gamma Phi Beta, met Robert (Bob) Bromley, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, while attending Oregon State and they married in 1952. They remained married for 61 years until Bob passed away in 2013. They both graduated from Oregon State in 1954.

Marge and Bob, an officer in the US Air Force, traveled and lived in many places to include Japan, Oklahoma, Germany, New York, Illinois, Guam and Washington D.C. They eventually settled in Corvallis in 1977 when Bob retired.

Marge worked as a legal secretary for many years and was the President of the Oregon Association of Legal Secretaries for a few years. She also was a member of The American Association of University Women (AAUW). Upon retiring, she did volunteer work at Meals on Wheels and Good Samaritan Regional Medical center as well as staying actively with the Gamma Phi Beta alumni group and local Mah Jong club.

Throughout retirement, Marge enjoyed traveling (mainly cruising), attending plays and concerts at The LaSells Stewart Center and going to OSU football games. Marge was into exercise and continued going to step aerobics 2-3 days/week at Timberhill Athletic Club until she was 89.

She is survived by her 4 children; Bill Bromley (Cathy), Sharon Grace (Brian), Neal Bromley (Sherry), Maureen Jensen (Tom) and her beloved cat, Sweeney. Marge had 6 grandchildren; Sandy (Amanda), Nick (Joy), Rebecca, Alan, Davis (Ashley), Brooks (Andrea) and 6 great grandchildren Connor, Lillian, Ambrielle, Carson, Beau and Noah.

Marge will be interred next to Bob at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, OR.

All are invited to join family & friends for a Celebration of Life, Saturday, November 16th, at Woodstock's Pizza in their banquet room 1045 NW Kings Blvd., Corvallis, from 2-4 p.m.
