Dear Connolly family:
I am here tonight at Michael Power St Joseph graduation. I see Lucy Connolly Science award & can't help but think it's not a coincidence. Ms Connolly was my OAC Chemistry teacher over 20 yrs ago at Johnson. My sincere condolences to you upon hearing of her sudden illness and passing. She was tiny in stature and so gentle, yet no one took advantage out of shear respect. Ironically I am here for my god-daughter's grad - she will be studying Chemistry at Ryerson this fall. Thx Ms C for helping me on my path to B.A.Sc. RIP.

Dear Connolly Family,
Lucy was my grade 11 math teacher in 1982. She was the perfect model of a Christian teacher--compassionate, knowledgeable, dedicated and inspiring. I was blessed to know her, and I know that I pass on much of what I learned from her in my own profession as a math teacher. I will remember her always.

Just recently found out about Lucy's passing. My thoughts and prayers are extended to the Connolly family. I was a classmate of Lucy's sister Dorothy at Michael Power St. Joseph's and spent many times at the Gabor house on Duffield. Lucy's kind spirit will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.

Our daughter Vy just received the Lucy Connolly Award at Monsignor Johnson Catholic School. Overwhelmed by the emotional event, we missed the opportunity to thank you. Please accept our apologies. On behalf of our family, we send you and the Connolly family our late condoleances and also our gratitude. Mrs Lucy Connolly will be remembered from generation to generation for the endowment for the Sciences scholarship. God bless you all.

I was a student of Miss Gabor-Connelly at MPSJ from 1977-1982.I just learned of her passing from the University of St. Michaels' College's alumni magazine. I have fond memories of her chemistry classes and her thoughtful mentoring of the MPSJ debating team. She was loved and she will be missed. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Mrs. Connolly was diagnosed with cancer before I started the year with her. My class had the privilege of having her as a teacher for one week. As she taught our class, she began to show signs of coughing. But to prevent us from worrying, she reassured as that it was simply a flu. A few days later, she left our class in a hurry. There was no mention of her for a whole week. The day after, we got the news of her passing.

Although I've only been her student for one week, she has changed my whole view on life educationally, mentally, and spiritually. She re-established my passion for the sciences and gave me hope to overcome any obstacles that stand in my way. She helped me to build my confidence and understand how important it is not only love yourself but those around you.

She was my favourite teacher because that was one of the best weeks of of my life. Everyday I still hit a soft spot for Mrs. Connolly as I enter my chemistry class knowing that this was the class she was supposed to teach me. Physically she is gone, but spiritually she will remain with you forever.

I extend my deepest condolences to the Connolly family. She will be greatly missed. Last year, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity of having Mrs. Connolly as my teacher for the first time. She was such a kind and caring person; she would always make sure that her students understood the concepts, and she would stay after classes to help us. Her dedication to teaching was evident everyday. It is such an unfortunate loss to have her pass on.
She will be forever remembered in our hearts.

I hadn't known Mrs.Connolly for very long, at the most it was only two weeks, but I could tell that she was a very kind person and she always tried her best to explain any questions that we had. I later found out that even after she found out that she had cancer, she stayed to teach us for 3 more days. I think this fact really speaks of her character and her dedication as a teacher. I'm glad that she was my chemistry teacher even if it was only 2 weeks, and in reading comments from old students of her's, I know her memory will live on and continue to inspire and motivate others.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Connolly this year, but even in the short time she taught my class, I immediately understood the reason for the amount of respect and care with which her former students spoke of her. She simply was the kind of teacher who would go above and beyond when sharing her passion and inspiring others.
I am so sorry for your loss.

It is with great sadness that I heard of Lucy's death. I had the honour of working with her for 5 years and rarely had I encountered a teacher with such a high degree of professionalism, dedication, warmth and sincerity. Her charming smile and sense of good will radiated in all our encounters. The students have lost a wonderful inspiration; the teachers have lost a great model and I have lost a good friend. I will treasure my memories of our wonderful trip to New Orleans, our shared intimate conversations and our deep sense of the value of life.

Connolly Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in your time of grief.

For the past 20 years it has been our privilege to enjoy the company of Lucy and the Connolly family for 1 week a year during our annual vacation in Myrtle Beach. I personally will never forget Lucy’s genuine smile and our daily conversations by the pool. Lucy had a terrific outlook on life and we all know how much she loved her family. Lucy will be missed but she will never be forgotten. I’m sure she is smiling down on all of us from heaven.

Dear Connolly family,
Mrs. Connolly redefined what it means to be a teacher. She was not only there because of the pay but because she was passionate about mentoring and spreading her knowledge. She treated us students differently from other teachers because you could tell she cared about us, as evident through the amount of time and energy she invested in helping us.
I had her for 2 semesters, my whole grade 12 year. Even though chemistry was never my strong subject, she helped me push through and succeed. She believed in me and to my surprise she predicated my grade higher than what my marks suggested I would accomplish on my final exam. Even more surprising in the end she was right. I will always be grateful for her faith in me. I will always regret that I was never able to return to Power and tell her in front of her students what a great teacher and amazing person she is.
Hopefully this offers comfort, showing you how blessed you were to have such a rare and inspiring person in your lives

From the first time I had the pleasure of meeting Gord and Lucy Connolly, I thought how lucky Tricia must be to have such awesome parents. The closeness and love of your family has always been incredibly touching to witness, and should serve as an inspiration to us all.

Mrs.Connolly was a lovely person who I am privileged to have had as a inspiration. Very kind in words and deed, she never lost her patience even when we weren't the best of students. She always promoted helping others especially during the Christmas or Thanksgiving food drives when most of us grumbled about bringing in items. I will always remember Mrs. Connolly as an incredibly nice person. I am so grateful to be a part of her and her family's lives. She was a giving and caring person, always making sure that everyone around her was comfortable; from always making potato dumplings when we came over for dinner, or reading to us at Kristen's skate recitals. I was a colleague of Lucy at MP/sJ where I taught and coached in the Phys-ed department from 1969-2000.

Lucy and I shared a mission of promoting lifetime fitness with our students.She ruled in the South portable science department and as a dedicated teacher has left behind an awesome legacy with the many students she taught and influenced.

I was a student at MP/SJ back in 1976-81. While I never had Mrs. Connolly (at that time Miss Gabor) as a full semester teacher I did benefit from some addtional chemistry study session classes she conducted. While it was only a couple of classes I can still recall her kindness, smile and energy. It was very obvious that she had a great deal of care, concern and compassion for her students.
