Joyce Vogel passed comfortably on Friday, September 8. She is survived by her three children: Teresa, Maria, and Steve.
Joyce Martin was born in North Dakota and grew up on her father's farm. In High School she met Paul Vogel and after college they were married. He joined the Air Force and Joyce served as a military wife for 24 years. Paul retired from the Air Force in 1977 and they remained here in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Joyce loved Colorado Springs and was very active in the community. She served many years on the Board of the Pioneers Museum in downtown Colorado Springs. She volunteered and served on the Opera Guild at the Pikes Peak Center. She used her college degree and early career experience working at various newspapers to start and run "The Northern Light", a community newspaper covering northern Colorado Springs neighborhoods. She was a long-time member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She served on many committees and helped the sisters with many of their charitable and outreach programs.
Joyce was a loving mother and devoted wife. She is survived by her three children; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren (and counting).
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919. Joyce will be buried alongside her beloved Paul at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, in Denver, Colorado.
