Emilie Roesky Oldfield, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Born in Coffeyville, Kansas, she graduated from Coffeyville High School and later from Iowa State University with a degree in Dietary Science. Following graduation she served as a Registered Dietitian at the University of Missouri and at a hospital in Oklahoma City where she met her husband, Harden Alwyn (Barney) Oldfield, Jr. and the local USO. They were married on December 29, 1951. Their son, Harden Alwyn (Buddy) Oldfield, III was born on April 23, 1954 followed by his sister, Penelope Kay Oldfield Marshall on July 26, 1959. Later she served as a dietitian at other hospitals and nursing homes including St. Thomas hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wanda Godwin Oldfield of North Augusta, South Carolina and daughter and son-in-law, John Marshall of Ellijay, Georgia, Grandsons, William Alwyn Marshall and his wife, Katie of Smyrna, Georgia and Daniel Frank Marshall and his wife, Kayla of Ellijay along with various great grandchildren and cousins here in Georgia as well as in Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Emil Roesky Sr. and Cecil Kinman Roesky, her brother, Emil Roesky, Jr. along with various cousins and relatives.
Internment will be at Chandler Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
