Philip Lavelle Obituary
Wilmington - Philip Christopher Lavelle, age 62, of Wilmington, DE died peacefully at home on July 27, 2021 after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.
Phil graduated from Brandywine High School and owned a local auto repair garage in Brandywine Hundred for many years. He was a member of PCVR and the NRA and enjoyed target shooting and running. Phil ran the Boston Marathon two times.
Phil was predeceased by his loving son, Christopher Philip Lavelle, parents Dr. John J. and Elizabeth Lavelle, and mother-in-law Carole Reich. He is survived by his wife Linda; siblings Stewart (Laurie), David (MaryBeth), Mary (Joe), Anne (Frank), John (Ann), Greg (Ruth); father-in-law Darwin Reich; brother-in-law Alan (Tracy); and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 1 from 4-6 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Monday, August 2, at 11 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803 with interment to follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phil's name to Brandywine Compassionate Friends for all those families whose children have gone too soon, P.O. Box 114, Rockland, DE 19732.

in these trying times, Phil´s strength gave his family and friends a gift. He tried his best to handle each day. I will remember my

Phil, you fought bravely and I will miss our chats at your shot as you provided 1st Class service for my many autos. You stood up to the adversities of life, which were not easy. You had a great attitude and were always positive. I appreciate your mentioning to Greg that my car was still at your shop as you reached peace. My condolences to your wife Linda.
