GREENVILLE -- Gary L. "Toby" Greer age 83, of Greenville passed away at 9:39 am Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Gary was born June 27, 1940, in Darke County to the late James R. & Catherine (Morris) Greer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Lou (Floyd) Greer whom he married July 28, 1962.
Gary is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Lori & Greg Schmidt of Greenville.
Gary was a lifelong farmer and retired from General Motors where he was a quality control operator. Gary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville and attended Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City. Gary enjoyed watching Sprint cars race at Eldora Speedway and NASCAR races. Gary raced go karts as a young adult, enjoyed fishing, boating, horse and tractor pulls. He was a member of the Vintage Scooter & Bicycle Club. Gary raised and showed Tennessee Walking Horses and Spotted Horses.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Doug Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
