Patrick Farrell Obituary

Patrick Leo "Perk" Farrell, 71, of Moosic, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, in Regional Hospital of Scranton, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

Born in Avoca on June 29, 1953, Patrick was the son of the late John and Dorothy Jopling Farrell.

Perk was a member of Langcliffe Presbyterian Church, Avoca, where he served as cemetery caretaker for many years. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Broan Manufacturing for many years and Central Warehouse. He was a hard worker and provider giving his all to everything he did.

Perk was a very loving and generous soul. He was quite the jokester and could always make people laugh. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and spotting wild life, he loved to take rides in the country to see how many animals he could spot. He loved watching shows about conspiracy theories, Alien encounters and especially his interest and obsession in Bigfoot. He loved coin collecting and classic Matchbox miniature cars.

He was a fan of cruises, camping and traveling to his favorite vacation spot in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and the Great Smokey Mountains. He was a loving father, grandfather (Papa), uncle, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Linda Hastie Farrell; son-in-law, John Nat; sisters, Sharon Farrell and Rose Russo; and brothers, John Jr. and Thomas Farrell.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Nat, Duryea; son, Frank Skoranski Jr. and his wife, Lisa, LaPort; grandchildren, Samantha and Cassidy Skoranski and Christopher Nat; sisters, Susie LaBruno and Kathy DeFazio; brother, Michael Farrell; and many nieces and nephews.

His family would like to thank the staff of Regional Hospital, especially the doctors and nurses of the ICU for their exemplary care and compassion during his illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Langcliffe Prebysterian Church, 1001 Main St., Avoca, with the Rev. Bruce Jordan officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. There will be no procession from funeral home on Monday morning, family and friends are asked to go directly to the church.

In honor of his life of nature and the outdoors, his family requests a tree or living plant that can be placed on his sons property in Perks honor.

Perk was always the jokester. He loved teasing people and making others laugh. I will miss him greatly. He really tried to get people to believe Bigfoot is real. One time at my nana's funeral in 1999, he saw my crying and was trying to cheer me up by making me laugh. It worked. So many memories. RIP Perk, love you!

God bless all of you during this difficult time. Perk was a gentleman and will always be know for his kindness. He visited friends in nursing homes and always asked about their well being. I´m sure Perk will be rewarded for his kindness to others and for taking time to visit the less fortunate .
