Nancy Mary (Szluk) Roth of Lincolnshire, IL, 76 years old, passed into God's loving embrace on September 4, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 23, 1942, to John and Irene (Lucas) Szluk and grew up in Lincoln Park, MI. The Salutatorian of her class at Lincoln Park High School, Nancy attended the University of Michigan, graduating in 1964 with a degree in nursing. Nancy was devoted to the Maize and Blue and loved passionately singing all the UM glee club songs! Nancy was a nurse at Evanston Hospital when she met Donald (Don) Richard Roth, whom she married on July 2, 1966. She became a dedicated flight attendant at United Airlines, flying for decades, bringing enthusiasm and a quick wit to passengers around the globe. She traveled the world many times over and as a patriotic and proud American, she especially loved the U.S. troop transports. Nancy never met a stranger! Nancy was blessed with three children (Donald Jr., Eric, and Carolyn) and multiple grandchildren, with whom she was very close and spoiled like only a doting Grandmother can. Nancy is survived by her husband of 52 years, three children and many grandchildren. Nancy's life will be celebrated with family and friends on Saturday, October 6 at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Lincolnshire, IL, with visitation from 9-11am and service beginning at 11am. In lieu of flowers or other items, donations can be made in her honor to the Ocular Melanoma Foundation.

The first time that I met Nancy, was at the front door of her son's apt.and she said in Spanish: "I am the grandmother"I said to myself: what a woman!!! She became my friend since that moment, sharing her grandchildren pictures, school achievements, life. Everything was brighter when she was around.
I miss you my dear friend.

Dear Nancy, I loved your sense of humor, honesty, and our conversations which lasted for hours that I am already missing. Sad for myself; happy for you Cousin that you are with your Jesus; peaceful, joyful and praising Him. I love you and am thankful for our relationship. Thanks so much for your call. Will always keep you in my heart.

What a terribly sad loss. Bill and I are thinking of you, dear Don -- of you and your family. We will see you on Saturday as we come together to celebrate the huge spirit that is Nancy.

Nancy was a dear and devoted friend and Mother. She took her future daughter in law Jessica Singer, our daughter, under her wing when her son Eric and Jes dated at Stevenson High School in the late 1980's. She was a derar friend to us as we sheparded our teens thru high school sports and studies that lead to not only marriage but incredibly successful adults and parents. Her influence, love, affection and a bit of stern discipline helped them become the fine adults they are today.
For that we are eternally grateful. Her friendship and our shared grandchildren have given us more than half a life of cherished family memories.
She had the best laugh and broadest smile ever.
We miss her and think of her often.
God bless Don and the rest of the family as they grieve and try to to adjust.

A great neighbor. A great person. You could not find greater authenticity in an individual than Nancy. She will be missed.
