We have known Mary Murphy since we attended Niles North High School back in the day. How fortunate that our three children all had the opportunity to have Mary as their guidance counselor. She was not only someone who filled in their schedules but offered them a shoulder to cry on, advice to help them through school and her total support when they when they needed an ally within the school community. Mary knew how to communicate and fill the needs of her students and always went to the extremes to see that their needs were met. She meant alot to our kids and to our family. She was one of a kind. Our thoughts and prayers are with Richard and the rest of her family.

Mary Murphy was my Guidance Counselor at Niles North High School from 1988-1992. However, she was much more than that, she was a mother figure to me. Her sunny disposition and laid back attitude towards life's tribulations made her the wonderful woman that she was. I spoke highly of her every chance I got. I was crushed to hear that she had past away. She will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. My condolences to all those she had left behind.

Mary was an exceptional person and friend. I will miss her more than anyone can imagine. Whenever I protested that she was too generous to me, she only asked that I do the same for someone else one day. I will do my best.
