Zlatko Tanjic, age 71, of St. John, originally from Bjelovar, Croatia, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023. He is survived by his wife Marija Tanjic, son Michael Tanjic, daughter Christina Tanjic, granddaughters Bianca and Vivian, several family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Vinko and Iva Tanjic, and siblings Ivan Tanjic, Vera Korosec, and Angie Nemoda.

Visitation will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave in St. John, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 20, 2023, beginning with prayers at the funeral at 9:30 am followed by mass at St. John Evangelist Church at 10 am. Burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood, IL.

Zlatko was a retired tow driver from Ford Motor Company for over 46 years. Not only was he dedicated to his employer he was dedicated to his family as well. Zlatko and his beloved wife, Marija, just celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. Some of Zlatko's proudest moments were when he became a father and grandfather (aka Dida in Croatian). He raised his family in Chicago Heights, IL and then moved to St. John, Indiana.

He was a family man that provided and protected and had a heart of gold. He lived simply, happily, and was always there for his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters. He was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite teams such as Dinamo Zagreb (soccer) and the Croatian National Soccer team along with Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears. In his spare time, he enjoyed barbecuing, family game nights, playing cards and bocce ball. He will always be remembered with his enormous smile and generous heart.
