I just found out of his passing. My condolences to the family and staff. He was the best doctor I´ve ever had. He successfully delivered 2 of my babies. Aged 14 and 9. We always talk about him and how he would joke with me about the babies gaining weight. He will definitely be missed.

I saw Dr. Tong shortly before he passed away and was shocked at his passing. Doctors like Dr. Tong are so rare these days. His great bedside manner and ability to put patients at ease. As I struggle to find good gynecological care now, I remember him and his kindness. Women lost a great advocate.

I just found out that Dr Tong passed away. He was so kind, funny, compassionate and had the best bedside manner. I actually called him once to ask him if he could talk to a friend of mine that had an issue and needed a consult. He did! Without knowing her, he talked to my friend and advised on her medical issue. Fast forward many years, I just looked him up to see if he could again consult with a friend. To my great shock, I found his obituary. This world lost a great doctor and human being. I hope his family finds comfort in all the messages from those who loved him. RIP Dr Tong

I started a new job recently and yet again nothing but wonderful things i heard about you Dr. Tong! Not only that in meant a fellow woman who was a patient of yours and she is a nurse with me, we talk all aboit how funny you were and caring. I am so saddened to hear of Dr. Tongs passing. He was a very personable, kind, caring doctor. He performed 2 surgeries for me and answered my many questions with patience and professionalism. He was a wonderful doctor.

I went to medical school with Yam and am deeply saddened by hearing of his passing, I have often thought to call him throughout the years since we spent our 4 years in medical school and were friends. I am so sad that I never called. He was always a bright spot in everyone's day. He was calm, kind, and witty. He took me to lunch in Chinatown one day, and I was fascinated by his habit of drinking plain hot water. He said boiling water was necessary back in Hong Kong, and that was his habit. I so dearly miss being able to reach out to him. God bless him and his family,

I was searching the internet for Dr. Tong to say hi, and i seen he passed. I am truly sadden to see this because he saved my life three times. I'm at working crying he was funny during visits and caring so much he honestly loved his line of work and patients! He will be missed so much by me.

I just called to make an appointment.This news just really made me super sad. I can only hope that he died doing what he loved (bringing life into this world). Wow, I'm in shock and disbelief! Dr. Tong delivered two of my babies. He is the best doctor that a gal could have. Every encounter was pleasant and memorable. He treated me and my family with such great care. I wish I could have been there at the services.

I was referred to Dr. Tong 4 years ago. He had an amazing, honest, funny, and calming spirit. During my delivery, I felt comforted despite the pain I was in. I tried to schedule an appointment today and received the bad news. I would like to send my condolences to the family, friends, and staff.

I had a pleasure with meeting Dr Tong for the first time last year , and I can honestly say he was the best Doctor I have seen. I was sadden to hear yesterday about his passing. Rest on my friend. I am heart broken that a wonderful person is gone.

Dr Tong was so supportive and caring through 6 years of IVF, a cervical cancer scare, you name it. I remember him hugging me on my last IVF attempt, telling me to believe, and telling me that he couldn't wait to deliver my babies. He was so empathetic and sincere. A baby never happened, and if it had I have no doubt that he'd have been the best Dr I could have asked for through that process as well.

I was deeply saddened to learn today that Dr. Tong had passed. What a phenomenal man; he was the most caring, compassionate doctor. He delivered our daughter nearly 25 years ago. Everyone that knew him had only words of praise for him; such a huge loss!

I found out today that Dr. Tong passed away. I am so very sorry that such a wonderful person will not be part of my life anymore. He was my doctor for about 30 years in Oak Park, even before he was at WSMC.

He always remembered what I was up to in college and graduate school and my career. He counseled me on difficult personal matters and made me laugh. He has been more than a doctor to me. This is a heartbreaking loss.

I know that he studied and worked in a lab, but then went to medical school. I know how much he loved his family and his relatives. He loved taking a tour of Greece and told me everyone should see the ruins in Greece someday.

I had the pleasure of being a Dr. Tong patient since 1992. He delivered both of my children, and was there for 2 miscarriages as well. He delivered my daughter back in 1993, and was also her Doctor at the time of his death. My daughter and I were both scheduled to see him the week he passed. This is so sad. Dr. Tong was an amazing OB/GYN and delivered my two precious sons, who are 12 & 8 now. He always seemed attentive to my needs and questions, ensuring that I was calm, since in his words I was growing a new life'. I remember when I had my eldest son, the maternity ward seemed crowded and I heard many of the expectant moms were patients of Dr. Tong, yet every time he came into my room he had a smile in his face & a pleasant, encouraging voice. My youngest was born on New Year's Eve and he joked about how he would be our best tax deduction. I was completely devastated to hear of his passing. May he Rest In Peace.

My heart is broken, Dr. Tong was the best at what he did. He didnt deliver any of my kids, but he found what other doctors couldnt and fixed it. He was any amazing man. He was so knowledgeable and loved his job. He always would tell me, I dont need to see you anymore cause I fixed all your problems but I would go back anyway and he never charged me. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Tong. What a wonderful human. He delivered all of the children of myself and my sister (1993, 2 in 2000, 2001, 2003 & 2005), needless to say, we saw a lot of him over the years. I have just learned of Dr. Tong's passing and am in shock. He was not only an amazing dr. but more importantly one of the most compassionate, caring, positive and humorous people you could ever know. Dr. Tong was my favorite doctor. Took exquisite care of my physical health, mental health and delivered Solvanna, my 12 year old daughter. He was brilliant, funny and so very good at his career. My favorite memory of him was jokingly telling me to lower my voice during delivery because everyone couldn't hear the Cubs game. Also, he told me I was having the baby and I said, I know, I have been having one for nine months. He said, I know you are in denial. I am the doctor telling you you are having her right now. Aren't you glad you came for your visit today? Everyone who knew him was so very lucky to have had time with him. I know I was.

My great respect and forever grateful to my dearest Dr. Tong with his Kind, supportive, compassionate and as great teacher and good person whom he had touch my life in many ways, I am a patient a co worker and he delivered 5 of my grand children from 3 of my daughter's.

Dr. Tong was simply wonderful. In the way he would always answer when you needed him, with his gentle and mildly jokey manner, reassuring the whole obstetric floor that everything was going to be okay just because of his presence. In the way that everyone's stress, whether during difficult deliveries or surgeries, would dissipate because of his skill and efficient competence. In the caring and professional way he treated people/patients; it's no coincidence that so many of his fellow coworkers chose to also become his patients, including myself. I wish I could express so much gratitude to him for his mentorship, his assistance during so many calls/cases (including my own), AND for the laughs. (Medicine can be serious so Dr. Tong was just the breath of joyful fresh air you needed sometimes!) And I give so much thanks to his family, who he loved so much, for sharing him with the rest of us. Dr. Tong, you are greatly missed, my prayers and my deepest condolences to your loved ones.

I met Dr. Tong when I worked at WSMC, I would see him walking down the hall with his scrubs on and his continuous smile. I have never been so moved by someone on a professional and personal level. As an ER nurse I got to see that Dr. To g truly responded for all of his cases, delivered ALL of his babies, and truly seemed to have an assignment for God, because he smiled with kindness and love through it all. He was my mentor, my friend, and my Dr. through a very stressful pregnancy and he told me his job was to worry, I had to grow my baby. He would call at late hours just to let me know labs were fine or see how I was doing if I seemed stressed. And I have heard the same for everyone who has had the pleasure of being his patient.

I expressed my appreciation and adoration so often as I would just go up to the office to randomly see Dr tong and the girls if I had a break from the ER because I loved the energy up there. His humble manor always inspired me to care with heart, compassion, and selflessness. And I will carry that with me. Ive never been so affected by knowing someone in such a beautiful way, and Im grateful for the experience. My prayers and thoughts with his beautiful family, who I know he adored.

Dr. Tong delivered both of my children..9 years apart. He kept saying hurry up and get pregnant if you want another baby because I'm going to retire. This was 9 years ago..I listened..my daughter will be 8 Saturday. After he gave me an ablation he would say "you better not get pregnant!" With this smirk!! Even though he knew my husband had a vasectomy! "You never know" He was the BEST Dr., person ever!! You will truly be missed!!!

I am incredibly fortunate to have been a patient of Dr. Tong. He delivered my first baby and as he memorably reminded us it was not Dr. Tong's first baby. He was so wonderfully patient, calming and mentoring during such an intense journey for our family. I am so lucky I was able to see him two weeks ago to hear the heartbeat of my second child. This news has left a hole in my heart and I'm sure many others as well. Dr. Tong was 2nd to none. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family, thank you for sharing him with all of us.

Dr. Tong was the best! He saved me from a crash csection by delivering my daughter very quickly. He genuinely cared about his patients and my heart broke when I heard the news. Last time I saw him I joked he can't retire until I have my second child.

Dr. Tong was such an amazing doctor. His bedside manner was one of a kind and he really, truly cared. I was hospitalized for gallbladder at 5 months pregnant and they couldn't find the heartbeat, it was around 10pm at night. It didn't look good. They were wheeling me down the hallway and suddenly there was Dr. Tong running towards us, dressed in formal attire - he'd been at some event and they called him to come see me. He was so worried. Thankfully all was well and he delivered my daughter 4 months later. He and his kindness will be missed. Thank you to his family for sharing him with the world.

I first met Dr. Tong and his wife Cindy while working at Dr. Kyle and Ingrid Liu's office in Oak Park in 1999. The most humble and kindness people you could ever meet. Dr Tong was my doctor for over 20 yrs. I had worked at the hospital years ago and was referred to him by a coworker. He was always gentle, kind, sensitive and made you feel at ease. After moving from the area I continued to come to Oak Park even though I live an hour away. It was worth it knowing I was being treated by the best. I was there 10 months ago and I still can't believe he's passed, I am truly heartbroken, but also feel blessed to have been treated by such an amazing doctor.

I have had the absolute pleasure and good fortune of working beside Dr Tong since he arrived at West Suburban Hospital. I was able to witness the kind compassionate care he gave to women and gentle way that he delivered babies. Dr Tong was always in the halls of the Family Birthplace. No matter what the day was we see would him at least once or twice. I knew if there was a difficult situation that you could count on him to come in and easily take care of the situation. Even this week I caught myself thinking, you should call Dr Tong he will be able to take care of this. Our hearts are heavy with grief and already we miss you desperately. Dr Tong was the most amazing doctor and human being I've ever met . He delivered my son, he delivered my grandbaby and I worked for him as a front desk registration person. He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family. He was truly one of a kind.
