Willie Evans Obituary

DANVILLE, Va. - Willie Mae Evans, 82, of 40 Baltimore Avenue, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, where she had been a patient for one year. She had been in declining health for six months.
Born Dec. 3, 1922, in Fieldale, Va., she was the daughter of the late William (Willie) Minter and the late Nanny F. Byrd.
She lived most of her life in Danville, was a housewife, and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She was married to the late George Evans.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jane Evans Brown and her husband, Michael Brown of Danville; three sons, Billy R. Evans of Fleetwood, Pa., David W. Evans and Daryl K. Evans, both of Danville; four sisters, Lelia Light and Margaret Nester, both of Bassett, Mollie McCraw of Collinsville and Dolly Hundley of Chesapeake; two brothers, Brewster Walker and George Walker, both of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Edna Lions and eStelle Spencer; and one brother, Charlie Walker.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 22 at Swicegood Chapel with the Rev. Rick Labate officiating. Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Swicegood and at other times they will be at the residence, 40 Baltimore Avenue.
Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
