William Shields Obituary

Just wanted to express my deepest sympathy to Bill's family and work associates. I worked with Bill while at the BBB and on the Attorney General Advisory Board. He was a wonderful person to work with and so knowledgeable about the automotive ad business.

Dear Jim, Marilyn, Marianne, and all the rest of Billy's loving family and friends: my heartfelt condolences at your (and our)loss. I enjoyed Billy's energy and caring nature since we were children, and welcomed our far too infrequent meetings as adults. A wonderful person! Let's let Billy's qualities carry us forward. I was saddened to hear of Bill's death. I did some freelance work for Bill and Danny in the late 80"s. Bill was a fine man. My prayers are with you.

My condolences to the family.

It was back in high school that I knew Billy. We used to play cards at his house. He was a good guy back then. From what I have read, he didn’t change and led a very meaningful life.

He will live forever in the hearts and minds of those he touched.

Dear Marianne and Family - I was very saddened to hear of Billy's passing and I extend my heartfelt condolences. Billy in my mind is still in his 20's as that is when I left Illinois. A successful life is one filled with a loving and wonderful family and friends. Billy had all that. I wish you well. Take Care.

I knew Billy at Northwestern when we were freshmen at Bobb Hall. I have several pictures of him, looking young and vibrant in those days. I remember especially when Billy broke his neck, was in traction, had to wear a cumbersome cervical collar, but somehow had the strength and fortitude to overcome that accident always keeping a positive attitude. I'd lost touch with him over the years, was happy to learn that he had a loving family and friends, but was indeed saddened to hear he had passed away. My condolences to all.

Marianne and family -

We were remembering the spring afternoon Billy walked by with Brett in 2001 -- Brett was on his one-of-a-kind old style scooter. We were still new in the neighborhood. Billy called out to us from the sidewalk, introduced himself, and suggested Michael and Brett might like to get together. He was so kind and unimposing. It was just what we needed at the time, and the start of a reliable friendship. He was a great guy, and I know you will miss him tremendously. Our prayers are with you all.
