Schaefer, William J. age 80, WWII Marine Veteran of DesPlaines, beloved husband of 55 years to Patricia (nee McCorry), loving father of John (Pamela), Michael, Martin and Joan (David) LeBike, fond grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of five, dear brother of Theodore (Ida Jane) and the late Bernadine Schaefer, also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends, preceded by dear parents, William J. Sr. and Marie Schaefer. Retired member of Architectural & Ornamental Iron Workers Union 63 and Past Commander of VFW Post 5817. Visitation Wednesday, 3 to 9 p.m., at the Oehler Funeral Home DesPlaines Chapel, 2099 Miner St., DesPlaines. Prayers Thursday, 9:15 a.m., from our chapel to St. Zachary Catholic Church, 567 W. Algonquin Rd., DesPlaines, Mass 10 a.m. Entombment All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Parkinson Disease Assoc., Midwest Chapter, 2050 Pfingsten Rd., Suite 127, Glenview, IL 60025 or Heartland Home Healthcare and Hospice, 220 No. Smith St., Ste. 420, Palatine, IL 60067, appreciated.
