To Everyone,
I would just like to thank everyone for all your support and kindness during this tragic time of my/our lives. I can't say how great people have been. I love and will miss Billy very much and I know he will be missed by many people. We will all find each other in what we have lost and we'll talk about all the great experiences that we have shared with Billy. I know he is missed by many people, but I know he is watching over all of us and Jack too. Sorry for going on but I just wanted to thank everyone for all your support to me and my family.
Take Care,

Dear Ryan Family:
I hope you will not object to this intrusion on your sorrow. My husband, Bill Byan, also died tragically on November 17, 2002--at the age of 57. I inadvertently clicked on your Billy's guest book; and since many people used to call my husband Billy, I did not realize what I had done--especially since EVERYONE talks about my Billy's smile and laugh as well. I am devasted to have my husband die so young, then I saw how young your Billy was. I think they may both be together in Irish heaven; and I just felt, after erroneously reading your guest book, that I had to send you my deepest sympathies.

To Billy's wife, family and friends, please accept my deepest sympathies. I graduated from Mother McAuley in 1985 (next door to Billy) and although I never got to know him personally, I did know many of Billy's friends from Brother Rice and Valparaiso University. My father and brother are also on the C.P.D. I have heard so many nice things about Billy. This has truly hit home for me...the fragility of life and loss of such a bright, young person. My prayers and thoughts are with you. God bless.

To Marge and Sue and your families -- Words are so hard with such an awful, sad and unfair tragedy. Billy was a wonderful person, who was always smiling, friendly and warm. This loss is beyond tragic, and I pray that over time we all find solace in all the happy memories Billy gave us. As a fellow Warrior, I know we will all miss Billy dearly.

I worked with Billy at the State's Attorney's Office and saw Billy friday evening. I spoke with him that evening not knowing it would be the last time I would ever speak to him again. I will miss him.
May God grant your family and friends the strength to persevere such a tremendous loss. There are no answers in this world to explain these senseless tragedies. It is simply fate. Please Do not question what could have been done to prevent this, or fall pray to the what if, way of thinking. Trust me, when my brother died in similiar circumstances, I spent untold hours questioning everything under the sun and all for naught.
Remember the good times with Billy and dwell on what a gift he was in your lives, and how lucky you were to have him, albeit all too briefly. Please attempt to focus on that.
Billy and your family are in my thoughts and in my prayers. May God bless you all in your time of sorrow.

To Billy's Family,
Our sincerest condolences for your terrible loss. I went to high school and played football with Billy, and will always fondly recall his wise-cracking but extemely friendly manner. Unfortunately my wife and I won't be able to make the services as my uncle in Seattle passed away the same day, and we leave tonight (Thursday) for those services. At the risk of being cliche, he truly was too young and had too much to live for, and he will be sorely missed.
