In a photo above my desk, Uncle Bill at age 32 is handsome and vital. He and I were photographed together at a wedding in the early 1960's. Forever in my memory, I'll retain that memory of him. I grew up downstairs from Grandma and Grandpa Pope, Uncle Bill was a frequent part of the milieu. I remember seeing Aunt Dolly's engagement ring and their wedding. He always said that she was the best thing that ever happened to him and he was right. His devotion and pride toward his children was at the forefront of his life. When I was small, he always had time to play with us, to give hugs and to tell us that he loved us. I picture him in a place with a stream and forests where he can fish and hunt forever. He is the golden part of my childhood memories and a precious part of my present. He was the kind of uncle that all little girls deserve.
With Love, Angie (Pope) D'Ambrosio

I only met him once, in 1974. He threw his home and his hospitality to my family. A very generous man.

My knight in shing armour. My beloved uncle. My shoulder to cry on. Always there for me. I especially remember insisting that my dad take me to the airport to pick up my wonderful uncle when he returned from the service. It was like forever sitting in the car alone in an empty field. And, after the long wait, he sat in the front seat and talked to my dad all the way home. I also remember how wonderfully strong he was. He would throw my sisters and I up in the air. Oh he was so great!! I will greatly miss his smile and love Emily
