Cary & Family,
Sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. While I never had the pleasure of meeting him, I can say that I have a pretty good idea as to the type of person he was based on the great family he raised. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Regards,
Doug
Bill Lyne
February 25, 2005
Biography of my dad:
William “Bill” Jeremiah Patrick Lyne, born July 3rd, 1938 to Bill and Elsie in Chicago. His parents instilled strong faith and family values that he lived and passed on to his children and shared with his friends.
Attended Chicago Vocational High School (CVS) on the south side
He had only one sister - Jean Bell – they had a very loving relationship and you could still hear them “exchanging ideas” from the other room (even the day before he died). His extended family of aunts uncles and cousins remained close to him throughout his life and supported him in his final months.
Devoted husband to Bernetta “Bernie” for 36 years until her untimely death 7 years ago
Raised 5 children and made sure they were educated with the same Catholic values he had. Ensuring they all went to St. Albert the Great grammar school and either St. Laurence or Queen of Peace High School. He also insisted they attend college even though he and Bernie graduated high school. Bill’s passion was people and learning! There was never a day where he wasn’t inquisitive involving his family, friends, or co-workers.
Proud grandpa to 9
Bill earned his living as an electrician first with Local 134 then with Oak Forest Hospital
Bill was not one to sit peacefully at home on the evenings or weekends. He became involved with many organizations in the parish, with his career, and the community. If one of the children joined a club or sport, he was there as one of the leaders.
Some of his many involvements include:
· Parishioner of St. Albert the Great for 43 years
· Past president of the Holy Name Society
· Usher including Head Usher
· Ran parish carnivals, pancake breakfasts, Bingo
· Cub Scout Leader
· Ran smokers at St. Laurence
· Original Electrical Inspector for City of Burbank
· Member South Suburban Electrical Inspectors
· City of Burbank Park District President and board member
· Active member of the Stickney Township Democratic Organization
· Precinct Captain
Bill moved to The Villages, Florida in 2003 where he spent 11 wonderfully warm months until the brain injury occurred – or to hear him tell it - a bike just fell on his head and he moved back to Chicago.
Returning to Florida was his driving motivation throughout his recovery. Unfortunately, his pre-existing liver disease ended his life here with us. His Eternal life is just beginning – as he now shares a place in heaven with Bernie, Elsie, Bill all the dearly departed loved ones of the Lyne, Jahnke, Molde, and Slind families!
We mourn for our loss But CELEBRATE his life among us.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your Father. He was a great guy and I (Mel) will always have found memories of his abundant "Family-Man" disposition. He loved you all so much. And he will be missed by so many. Also, we regret that we were unable to attend the services due to our family flu situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Dear kids and sister Jean,
Your dad and brother will be in our prayers. Let us remember all the good times we had in scouts and our family outings to State Parks. Your mom and dad were married the same day we were and we honeymooned in the same place too. We always considered them good friends. God Bless all of you. Jean, You and I went to Calumet together and graduated in 58. Sorry we didn't make the wake as we didn't find out until notified by a friend who was there.
