I just learned of Bill's passing as I was out of town for several weeks. He was a past member of Good Shepherd Parish, where I am pastor, but I knew him years ago. I had great times at "The Shambles" especially for his wonderful Christmas open houses. I will always remember him fondly.

I only had the opportunity to work with Bill for a couple of years before he retired. What I will remember most about him is the time that he would take out of his day to answer the mundane rookie questions that I had; always earnestly and always with a smile.

Bill and I were both born and raised in Burlington, Iowa, and became specifying Architects. Bill was one of my mentors and I have always felt a special closeness to him. The Architectural Community is going to miss one of its pillars.
