William Lawson Obituary

WILLIAM LAWSON JR

Spokane, Wash.

William I. Lawson, Jr.(Jr/Bill) - age 80

The children of William Lawson would like to thank you for sharing his life. He was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, on October 27, 1925, and passed away quietly in his sleep March 24, 2006 in Spokane, Washington, with his dog Skylar by his side.

He served in the Merchant Marines from 1943 until 1946. While in the Merchant Marines he survived the sinking of the USS Soreldoc on February 28, 1945.

He married Katherine Rose Payne in May 1945. Katherine preceded him in death in 1982.
He came to Hanford, Washington, as a pipefitter in 1950 and retired from J.A. Jones Construction in 1987.

His retirement was filled with traveling the continental U.S. in his motorhome with his companion, Helen Rogers of Yakima and spending summers at Hunters Campground on Lake Roosevelt doing what he loved most, fishing for walleye. He taught many people how to catch and cook these fish. Weekends with family and friends at Hunters usually ended with a fish-fry. Sharing his love and knowledge of fishing was his greatest joy.

William was also preceded in death by his father, William Lawson, Sr., mother, Grace Adams, brother, John Lawson and his sister Laverne Gunlock and his dog Lucky.

He is survived by his five children: daughter Judy Demand and her husband Jim Demand, of Spokane; granddaughter Michelle Minderman, her husband Sean Minderman and great-granddaughter Kailey Minderman and granddaughter Megan Demand of Spokane; daughter Jan Davis and her husband Wayne Davis of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter Jamie Collings of Chicago; grandson Scott Davis of Pleasanton, California, his wife Jane and great-granddaughters Gracie and Sarah; granddaughter Jennifer Ramon, her husband Florencio Ramon and great-granddaughters Lauren and Kaitlyn Ramon; and great-grandson Ethan Ramon; granddaughter Julie Krapf of Denver and her husband Dustin; great-granddaughter Melissa; son David Lawson of Kennewick and his companion Claire; granddaughter Melissa Lawson; grandson Timothy Lawson and their mother Rita Lawson; daughter Robin Hendrick and her husband Randy Hendrick of Liberty Lake, WA; grandson Garrett Hendrick; son Patrick Lawson and his wife Kay Lawson; granddaughter Amber Lawson and grandson Tyler Lawson. He is also survived by his brother JT Lawson and his wife Mary of Kennewick.

As per his wishes, no services will be held. Donations may be made in his name to 'Cast for Kids,' 227 S.W. 41st, Renton, WA 98055.
