William Jordan Obituary

Life’s Reflections

William “Jake” Randolph Jordan, 85, of Indian Head, MD, departed this life September 27, 2005 at Fort Washington Hospital in Fort Washington, Maryland. He was the husband of Lula Mae Lewis Jordan to whom he was married for 63 years.

Born November 27, 1920, in Pomonkey, MD, he was the son of the late Wesley and Estelle Jordan.

Jake was educated in the Charles County Public School System. Jake was a World War II Army Veteran. After his stint in the Army, he lived in Ohio, Chicago and Alabama. He later worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he retired in 1986.

Jake enjoyed spending time with his family; to Jake there was nothing like family; he was always willing to give a helping hand. He was a jack-of all-trades, yet a master of none. Full of wisdom, his words gave comfort and guidance to all. Generous, soft spoken and a wiz at Bid Whist!

He was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Jordan and Celeste Jordan Key; brothers Hugh, John, George, Cleopas and a nephew raised as a brother Jimmy (James) Jordan.

He is survived by his loving wife, two sisters Ophelia Hargrove and Edna Livingston; three brothers Oswald, Cecil and Earl Jordan; four sisters-in-law Everdene, Louise, Mary Jordan and Daisy Lewis; one brother-in-law Edward Fields; a very special niece whom he assisted in raising Diane Qualls; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and family.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD with Rev. Dr. George F. DeFord of Metropolitan United Methodist Church officiating.

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD.
