When I heard the news about Bill it brought back memories that have been dormant for decades. We lived a block apart and the basement of the white house on Stone Avenue was a natural gathering place during grade and high school. Bill was one year older but so much cooler than we were. He never made you feel like the goofy friend of his kid brother but rather found a way to include you in his circle. Random memories come out of the fog of the past...the Neil young cut-out in the basement, grade school football, grade school band, watching Bill squeeze that bass into the back of the Corvair and, "of Corsa" having him patiently teach me how to drive stick in the Cletus parking lot. John, I just wanted you and the rest of the family to know that there is yet another person who can remember Bill with fondness that time can't erase. You are in my thoughts.

I've had the extreme good fortune of being married to Bill's brother John for over six years. I love John's family and adored my brother-in-law. I will always remember his kindness, his quiet warmth, and his love for the spoken word. I admired his wit and perseverance, his dedication to his craft, and his devotion to Go Go. Peace, Bill.

I remember Bill from High School and the few years after that before I moved to California, and will especially remember his sense of humor. Coming to St. Ignatius from the suburbs he seemed so much cooler than us city kids, and being a real musician really enhanced his image. I was alway proud of the fact that he and Peggy met at a party my sister and I hosted in my parent's home back in the day. I hope he has found peace. To Peggy, his family and friends, I send my deepest sympathies.

Bill's sense of humor, his laugh, and the fun we all had on gigs and going for coffee will be cherished here. I'll never forget that internal jocular sense of wonder that would show up on his face when something struck him as at least incongruous if not absurd. Thanks for being my friend, Bill.
