I am the son of James Wynne (deceased) who was a cousin of William. I just received notice today and wish the family and friends my condolences. I am not sure but possibly my brother is named after him.

Bill Caffrey was my first cousin.

His father "Jack" was my Godfather and I was named after him. I'm the youngest of all the first cousins, but clearly remember all the fun we had when Uncle Jack, Aunt Mildred and Bill would come to Cleveland from Chicago. It wasn't uncommon to see all the "Caffrey" siblings, together around the holidays… even though some came in from Scranton PA, Chicago or just outside of the city. Travel wasn’t as easy as it is now... but they came... for love of Family. We'd usually congregate over at my Uncle Charlie and Aunt Pauline's, on West 128th Street… in Cleveland.

Aunt's, Uncle's, kids, friends, neighbors and, of course, "The Matriarch" our beloved Grandmother, Bridget Durkin Caffrey… would all be there. I remember Bill Caffrey, Paula and Joan Alder, and my brother’s Paul and Bob Ruggerio… all hanging out together, just playing records and having a great time. The parties would always have the Great “Sing-a-Long”, with my sister's Patty and Mary Lou, teaming up with cousin’s Franny, Joan and Paula while my father… “The Maestro”, Vince Ruggerio, played everyone’s request… late into the night. There was always a Show!! My mother, Lucylle, would sing… as would other family and friends. We kids would usually fall asleep under a table or the piano... while the adults would party til’ the wee hours of the morning.

Then they’d start breakfast!

It was a special time… it was the best of times!

I am Bill Caffrey's first cousin, Bill and his parents were very close to our families when he was young. I was a house guest of his parents and Bill in Chicgao when I came home from WWII. I am so sorry to hear of his death. We had resumed communication last year. Can anyone tell me what happened.

Thank you. Bill Wynne-- Ohio

Bill knew me when I was still knee high to a grasshopper. Over the years he became a great friend and source of much support, direction and encouragement.

How sad I am at the loss of a wonderful person and treasured friend.
