To Pamela (daughter), Jean (sister), Gloria (wife), and the entire family of William R. Bonner,

Mere words cannot express the sadness that I feel, on this sorrowflu occasion of the passing away of your father, brother, husband and relative, who was also my father-in-law of 33 years.

Dad used to refer to me, affectionately, as, "Sonny Boy," something that I always remember.

He took me to play basketball with his police friends in Chicago's Washington Park Field House, and, we turned them out, on the "fast-breaks" that ended with my "dunk shots," the "give-and-go" and "pick-and-roll" plays; and, when they asked, "Where did you get THIS GUY?" Dad always answered, "That's my son!"

He enjoyed hearing about the escapades of his two grandsons, Anthony William "Little Tony" Dunn and Julius Michael "Mikey" Dunn (he visited them at their Sherwood High School, in Sandy Spring, Maryland) his granddaughter, Aleta Carla "TweetiePie" Dunn and his great-granddaughter, Tianna Mercedes "TeeTee" Dunn.

We listened to Jazz music together, at home on records & tapes; and in person (we once heard Stan Getz play in downtown Chicago), and when I met Count basie & his orchestra in Washington, D.C. and told them that I was Bill's son-in-law, they were elated!

I never played golf with him, but I used to walk the first 2 or 3 holes with him in Chicago, and then I would meet him on the "19th. Hole!"

We barbequed toghther, including a "Christmas Turkey," which he thouroughly enjoyed, in his beloved Florida, once.

We even rode bicycles, fished and swam together.

May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Sincerely,

Anthony G. (Tony) Dunn

Pam, my deepest condolences on the passing of your dad. It was truly a blessing that you had him for such a long time. You were a "daddy's girl. I have fond memories of him. I especially remember the breakfast he hosted for all of us prom goers after the prom. I knew that was his way of keeping tabs on us. And that was okay, that was love. Love to Gloria and your family.

I am at peace with my Daddy because I told him I loved him the last time I spoke with him and thanked him for being my daddy and helping to be me. He said really and I could tell he was smiling and of course I said, yes. My thoughts are only of the good times we shared from the time I was a baby. I loved watching him play basketball and golf and listening to Count Basie and even getting all of their autograph's. He was easy to talk to and I confided him, sometimes too much. I will miss his spirit on this earth and breathing the same air as him. Our relationship was distant in miles but in our hearts, I felt his love for me and know he felt mine. I love you this much daddy and say hell-o to Mommy for me when you see her. My mommy and daddy were so in love when I was little and I remember family hugs and kisses and waiting for them to come home when they'd get all dressed up to go out. Just waiting for daddy to drive up on his police motorcycle. My daddy taught me to drive, ride a bike, swim, play volleyball and basketball, baseball and to enjoy life. I will continue his legacy properly with my children, Anthony, Julius, Aleta and my loving husband of 33yrs Anthony G. Dunn. Your 1st and only loving surviving daughter.
