Dear Jenny and Family, Cheryll and I just heard about Wayne's passing. It has been some time since I had last seen Wayne, but Cheryll would often bring home stories, after seeing Wayne at her office, about our good times in Tinley. You all are in our hearts.

Dear Jenny,
I just learned of the sad news and words cannot express my heart-felt sympathy for you and your children. Shirley always talks about Wayne and her fond memories of their childhood together. Jenny, my prayers are with you and your family in this time of grief.

Dear Bernas Family,
I was saddened to learn of Wayne's passing. I grew up a couple of houses away and have many fond memories of sleeping out in the back yard, swimming in the pool and setting the creek on fire. Please know that your family is in my family's thoughts and prayers.
With my sympathy,
Glenn Miller

Dear Greg and members of the Bernas Family:
I was saddened to learn of the death of your dear husband, son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather, Wayne T. Bernas. At times such as these, words are unable to carry the full message of comfort and consolation which we want them to bear, but they are all we have. Having experienced the death of my own father in 1995, I am aware of the deep emotions which accompany such a loss. Be sure of continued remembrance of him in my prayers and those of all the Brothers here at Lewis.
May the Lord continue to hold you as well as all your family and friends in the hollow of his hand and may you find his comforting presence in the silent power of prayer, in the wisdom of the Scripture, the nourishment of the Eucharist, the beauty of the liturgy, and in all his holy people gathered round you to help us.
I join my voice to the ancient hymn of the early Church:
May the angels lead him into Paradise.
May the martyrs come and welcome him on his way
And lead him into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May the choirs of angels welcome him.
And with Lazarus, who once was poor,
May he have everlasting life. Amen.
I close with the traditional prayer which we Brothers have prayed for over three hundred years:
Live Jesus in our hearts--Forever.
With sympathy and promise of prayers,
Penny (Matthews) Damesworth

To my dear friend, Jenny children, I hope that you can find some comfort in your many special memories and in the thought of the happy years that you shared. I remember so well Wayne's easy laugh and smile. May the thoughts and prayers of all those who love you help sustain you at this difficult time.
