Waneta Szalaj Obituary

Szalaj, Waneta June (nee Varner), beloved wife of the late Edward John Szalaj, loving mother of Steven (Monica) Szalaj of Crystal Lake, IL and Nancy (Rick) Grace of Springfield, AR, proud grandmother of Aaron and Christopher Szalaj, Erick and LeeAnne Grace and great-grandmother of Mia and Margaret Szalaj, preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Ethel Varner late of Palestine, IL, her brothers Leo (Anne) Varner late of Rome, NY, Royal (Maudelle) Varner late of Evans, GA and her sister Alice Trudeau. She is survived by a brother Robert (Nita) Varner of Robinson, IL. Waneta was a life member of Paul Gall Unit #303, American Legion Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mission Covenant Church, 2501 Collins St., Blue Island, IL 60406. Funeral Service Friday 12:00 p.m. at the Hickey Memorial Chapel, 2429 W. 127th St. Blue Island. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Friday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 708-388-1636.
