Dear Rev. Walker & Family
As a fledgling freshman at the University of Chicago in 1972, Dr. Walker and you took me under your wings at Burton-Judson Court. I was deeply appreciative of the way you helped me find "home". And now I pray that Dr. Walker has found his eternal home and that each of you will find comfort in the presence of the living God and the God of the Living.

I will never forget coming to MA to work at the state hospital and seeing both of you at the airport. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I wanted so much to be able to come be with you at this time. I shall never forget Walter's sage advice to me on raising sons. My life has been enriched because of the positive impact Walter had on the lives of my son's. I am glad I got a chance to personally thank him this summer in Charlotte.

I'm praying for you and your family. I'm finding myself wishing I could be there tomorrow for the services because you are as much family to me as anybody else in my life. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all tomorrow. I've been reading several on-line obituraries about Walter and have come away with a deeper sense of pride having met him and knowing his family. Take care bro. I'll represent for you at the Founder's Day ceremony tomorrow.

We are so sorry that we are unable to be there with you to celebrate the life of Walter but please know that our prayers and thoughts are with you. I first met Sonia and Walter Walker in 1978 while playing in the Memphis Symphony. They had a nice reception for the great pianist, Andre Watts. I have always admired Dr. Walker and consider him a great role model for all. I am thankful to have known him.

Dear Sonia and family,

You are in my thoughts and prayers. As a fellow member of MBCC, I am there for you if needed. Sonia, we have often said hello to each other at church and in and around town for the last 13-14 years. I also made it a point to speak to Dr. Walker. You all had and will always have my upmost admiration and respect.

I have always viewed Dr. Walker as a great humanitarian. His legacy will live on.

Dr. Walker was a gentleman and a scholar. He always had a personable and professional demeanor towards the students at LeMoyne-Owen. We all respected and loved him very much. He moved around campus like a gentle giant. My condolences to his wife and family.
