Walter Jones Obituary

Jones, Walter E. "Wally" age 75, of Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born on April 15, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri to Cecil H. and Louise M. Papen Jones. He married Yolanda V. Kowalski Kaszas on March 5, 1977 in Chicago, IL, she preceded him in death in 2004. Walter was a US Marine veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was formerly employed by the St. Louis Looseleaf Metal Co. in Chicago as a die setter foreman for twenty-two years, then as a mechanic foreman for the Chicago Transit Authority for twenty-two years prior to retirement in 1993. Walter was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Antioch, IL and former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL. He is survived by his daughters: Maria (Ken) Binder of San Antonio, Texas, Cynthia Jones of Pleasanton, California, Christine (Bill) Mangold of Washington, IL and Yolanda (Jim) Gnatek of Bolingbrook, IL, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two brothers; Robert P. (Norma) Jones of Pacific, Missouri, Myron (Judy) Jones of Wawatosa, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. Walter was prceded in death by his parents. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 15 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, with Rev. Paul Park officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to service. Inurnment will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.mem.com.
