I awakened today thinking of Walter. Of course, the one year mark of his passing is the reason he is on my mind. His death seems like yesterday, and I miss him as if he died just last week. So receiving the guest book sympathy email was a great surprise. You carved quite a place in my heart, Walter, and I never forget you as my life moves forward.

Dear Peggy and family,
It has been so long but fate led me to your dad's passing notice. I still remember so vividly sitting at your mom and dad's kitchen table and loving being there. Your family, especially your dad, always made me feel like one of the family. Whenever I posted a note on your dad's front door that I was in town and wanted to know how to reach you, Peggy, he always got the message to you. My heart goes out to you, Walt and Ginny. I know that your hearts are aching with your loss, but eventually the pain will be replaced with the wonderful memories you will always have of a wonderful, supportive and kind father.

Dear Walt and Peggy,
Your father will be greatly missed by many, including me. His infectious smile and words of wisdom were always so warm and welcomed. He was truly a one of a kind man, with great stories of his life. He loved you both dearly. May you gently heal over time and remember the good times always. It was a priviledge for me to have crossed paths with Walter in my lifetime and to have cared for him. His smile and words of wisdom will live on with me in my heart.
love,

Whenever anyone had a question regarding the history of the family, or of events or people, near and dear, but long gone, I'd say, "Let's ask Walter, he remembers everything--in detail. " Who can we go to now to tell us how it was back then ? Walter will never be forgotten, was one of a kind. Even now, already, when the phone rings, and it isn't Walter, I'm a little surprised. He will be missed.
