I met Vukman in David Plesic's Latin I class at George Washington HS. We were in Latin together for 3 years. Mr. Plesic nicknamed him "Butch". I remember a smart, funny, out-going young man. My condolences to those he loved and who loved him, those who lost him much too soon.

Very sorry to hear this. Pat (at DeVry) just let me know. I remember Vuk from Fannie May, when I worked there. He was one of the good guys. Do take care!

I remember V fondly from our grammar school days at Clay School. What I remember most vivdly about him is his tenacity as a patrol boy, that sometimes interfered with his boyish sense of humor. I had a hand-me-down wool coat and hat that I though was stunning. It was purple. Not a day went by during the winter that he missed the chance to rip the hat off my head, toss it into the snow and then shove me into the snow when I tried retrieving the hat. He said he did it because he liked me. I always tried to stay on his good side! During the summer, Cheyl Larson and I would watch he and his brother play basketball in the small corner park on Ave. M. I still conjure up a vision of the two of them playing there whenever I drive past the park. His devotion to his family was evident even then. He was a very smart student and Ms. Schwarzkopf, our 7 & 8th grade science teacher was always impressed with the assignments our class turned in. It was a lovely, young, impressionable time. Our paths didn't cross that often in high school, but I was looking forward to seeing him last year at our 40th class reunion. I'm sorry I, and the rest of the class didn't get a chance to see him. May your memories of this singular man carry you through the many lonely and difficult days ahead.
