Violet SAMAHA Obituary

SAMAHA Violet Lutife Violet Lutife Samaha died peacefully with her family at her bedside on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 after a brief illness. She was 87. Mrs. Samaha's most important life work was to be the "best Mimi ever", a title bestowed upon her by her five grandchildren. Nothing meant more to her than these young people. She dispensed unconditional love, support, and good food without limit. She was anything but judgmental and made each grandchild believe that they were most special. Mrs. Samaha was born in Toledo, Ohio to immigrant parents. She moved to Baton Rouge and has been a resident of University Acres for almost sixty years. Mrs. Samaha was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Samaha and by one grandchild, Jennifer Renee McCormick. She is survived by a son, John and his wife, Susan and their two children, Abby and Holly Samaha and daughter, Janis Samaha McCormick and her husband, Tom and their three children, Kevin, Malain, and Brian McCormick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your preferred charity. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rabenhorst on Government Street. Visitation will be on Friday, June 10 at St. Aloysious Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m with a mass of Christian burial following visitation.

Violet has been a great and dear friend to me for over 50 years, and it is really sad to see her pass on. She was a wonderful lady and it was observable in everything she did with her friends and family. She was truly an admirable woman. It is comforting to know she has many tomorrows.

Love to all of you! Especially Janis, Tom, Kevin, Brian and Malain! Mimi was like a stand in grandma to me too!

Janis, I am so sorry to learn of your mother's passing - I will never forget her syrian bread - I still have the recipe. She was a wonderful neighbor and a lovely lady - I know she will be missed.
