An open letter to Dad - April 3, 2006
Dear Dad,
Sometimes it is difficult for me to express how I feel - it must be the Norwegian in me. But I want to tell you how much you have meant to me over the years. You have had such an impact on me - and it is all good. You taught me to be a man of character and a man with grace. I recall those Sundays when we went to Theodore Wirth and played golf - just you and me. We spent precious time together. You taught me a lot and you loved me lot. You have been a mentor to me all my life. You gave me encouragement to do my best. I will always remember that. Those were simpler days.
The lessons in life are hard & you helped me through all of them. I just want to let you know I love you and will always be there for you.
Love, your son, Bob

Vic was such a special man! His quick wit and sense of humor will stay in my memory forever. He holds a very special place in the hearts of my family. My sons and I truly enjoyed the time we spent with him, playing cards and especially blew-it,the dice game. I will always appreciate the way he cared for my mother. During these last years they were the best of friends and I never had to worry about her, because I knew Vic was there to watch over her.
He will remain in my heart always.
