Verlia Fields Obituary

Verlia Mae Fields Resident of Pittsburg Mrs. Verlia Mae Fields, daughter of the late Anna Chaney Landry and Eddie Lane, was born in Maringouin, Louisiana on April 17, 1916. Verlia was raised in a church environment and accepted our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age. As a member of St. Peter Methodist AME Church, she loved singing in the choir. She met and later united in holy matrimony with Robert John Fields in Maringouin, LA, on May 27, 1937. Verlia Mae Fields departed this life on May 7, 2007. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Robert, Jr. and Lawrence; four daughters, Dorothy, Brenda, Joycelyn and Sherry; two daughters-in-law; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives, friends and her church family. Viewing, Mon., May 14, 2-8 p.m. with a quiet hour from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Dan Scales Funeral Services, 107 W. 8th St., Pittsburg. Funeral Service will be held Tues., May 15, 11 a.m. at Stewart Memorial CME Church, 580 Front St., Pittsburg.
