Vera Popovich Obituary

Popovich, Vera age 73, of Palos Park, suddenly, formerly of South Shore and Burnside. Born in Chicago July 31, 1930 to Michael Popovich and Mary (nee Czoklan) of Ukraine. Graduate of Perry School and Fenger High School. Member of St. Anne's Sisterhood of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Church. Past President of South Shore Chamber of Commerce. Former owner of Shore Auto Rebuilders and Jeffery Manor Car Wash. President of Aid for Ukraine which was very important to her. Vera improved the lives of many people in Ukraine through her charitable work. Vera made many trips to her homeland to oversee improvement projects and provide food, clothing and medicine. Beloved sister of the late Rose Mielnik and Marie Mattson, sister-in-law of Al Mielnik and the late Karl Mattson, fond aunt of Karl (Sharon), Nancy (John), Donna (Tim), Marilyn (Wayne), and Janet (John), great aunt of Michael, Kevin, Kimberly, Lisa, Diane, John, David, Dennis, Philip, Tony, Jennifer, and Julie. great-great aunt of Ryan and Sophia. Visitation Wednesday, 2 to 9 p.m. (Panachyda service 5 p.m.) at the John Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights. Lying in state Thursday, 9 a.m. until time of service 10 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 8410 W. 131st St., Palos Park. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to S.S. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Church would be appreciated. 708-361-4235.

Vera has done so much for so many around the world. Her life has touched so many and those people have touched others’ lives. We often times fail to see gods plan. I offer prayers and condolences and hope she rests in peace with god.
