Green, Velma Was a Christian. That's what she wanted the world to know about her. I met Mrs. Velma Green when I became a parent volunteer and she was a teacher at Beidler Elementary School in January of 1980. She was a beautiful woman, blessed from the Lord with a spirit of joy and a heart overflowing with love. Mrs.Green always had a kind word, tender embrace and that ray of sunshine smile to chase whatever problems set in your path away. Children and parents of Beidler School looked forward to hearing her melodic greetings and genuinely warm presence at the start of every school day. Mrs. Green presented me with a small pencil holder at a troublesome time in my life that states "God Is Greater Than any Problems I Have". Mrs. Green knew what I needed without me speaking a word and God knew what I needed withut me asking, that is why he blessed me with Mrs. Green. I lost contact with Mrs. Green over the years, her pencil holder is sitting and will remain on my night stand. A constant reminder of inspiration provided me by the beautiful, intelligent, spiritual, loving and divinely blessed Mrs. Velma Green.

Mother Velma Green was a devoted and faithful member of Adult Sunday School Class #14 at New Faith M.B.Church. I loved being her Sunday School Teacher. Each Sunday she brought a smile, words of encouragement, and words of wisdom. She served as an example of a mother that perservered in good works and demonstrated the qualities of a virtuous woman. Mother Green will be missed but her caring and giving spirit will forever remain with me.
