Ursula Baker Obituary

Baker, Ursula March 8, 1915 November 5, 2011. Mrs. Ursula Leoria Baker spent most of her 96 years putting the needs of others first. She was truly a selfless person, whose calling in life was to ensure the people around her felt safe, secure, and loved. "She spoiled us all," said her daughter Florence. "She waited on us hand and foot, effortlessly and with pleasure. Mrs. Baker spent her entire life in the service of others, and even though she never realized her dream of becoming a nurse, she in essence nursed all the people in her life, maintaining that no one should ever feel like a stranger in her home. Mrs. Baker died (November 5, 2011) from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She passed peacefully at her home in Hammond, Indiana with her family at her side. Besides her daughter, she leaves her son-in-law Terry and grandson Timothy. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, and many grandnieces and nephews. Ursula's husband of 42 years, Ellis Baker preceded her in death January 3, 1991. Ursula leaves many loved ones behind, but her inspirational spirit lives on in each and every person she touched. Her ability to connect with people, thereby giving them each a piece of herself, was her special gift. She will be missed and remembered.
