Timothy O'Grady Obituary

You left us all wanting more. Gone too soon brother.

Tim you were one of a kind. You are missed. It stinks that you are gone so soon. I know you and Kenny are up in heaven making funny videos and laughing. You were a great friend that I think about often. So unique and smart. I too hope to see you on the other side when that time comes.

Thinking of you today, Timmy. It's hard to juggle the feelings of joy that come with so many great memories of your laughter and sense of humor, all those great times we had trying to become adults, and the profound sadness of the reality that you are no longer here. Everyone misses you so much it's breaking hearts even through the joy of remembering you. You were an original, bringing so much light and love wherever you appeared, touching so many lives. Thank you for being there. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I'll never forget you - dragging you through the museum by your arms because you were too "schwabbed" to walk, making up your own vocabulary because the English language was found lacking, taking rides in your mom's car with the horn stuck, making endless compilations of music, hanging around, feeling loved, and laughing, always laughing, finding humor and bringing light into our lowest and darkest times. Thank you for those gifts.

Tim, had no idea you were gone. Found this obit by accident. Could not believe it. Just was wondering how to reach you to let you know that my brother, Kenny Doll, died Nov. 30, 2012 after a year and a half battle with the 4th recurrence of testicular cancer, this time in his lung. He had so much pain and fought so hard to live. Mom and I are devastated.

Tim I was wondering about you today I kinda knew its been just about a year, but it doesnt seem that long ago. You are still missed by all those who knew and loved you. That would include me. Brandy Patinkin

We mourn your early passing & at the same time we celebrate your life..We gathered with my cousin, auntie and uncle today & had a wonderful time sharing all the great family times we shared. I'm so glad I was able to make it & be with the family during these times.

To those who have had the benefit of knowing Tim O'Grady for the fine man he became, I remember Tim fondly for the boy I knew from grade school and high school. Even then, Tim had a calm kindness and a sense of humor born of his decidedly quirky intellect. Tim left his mark on the world in many ways both large and small. I will always remember Tim with fondness for the funny, smart, kind, Foreman Hornet basketball player who made the long walk home from school entertaining. My prayers are with Tim's family and loved ones at this time of loss.

You are a great brother and terrific friend. Over time you found your passions:
-To be the best Chicago Police Officer you could be (and you have the awards to support that claim)
-To have the latest Mac based technology available LOL and most importantly...
-When you became a Dad, your love and compassion for your son became your greatest accomplishment.

My heart is broken today and our family will miss Tim tremendously. Seeing my guys together was my greatest gift and our life will never be the same:'(

I remember Tim as my third nephew, who more days than not was at the table, or around the house... just a kid, dirt bikes and grins. Hearing of Tim's passing I realized I didn't know the man he had become and I read here of the many lives he touched.

To serve and protect... a first responder... a heart bigger than himself...

You will be missed... Truly enjoyed playing softball with you at Wicker... A class act all the way...

Tim, while we cousins were all at times ten cents short of a dollar, our love and respect for each other continues to manifest itself over and over through the strength of our core Slezakian roots. We'll need this strength now maybe more than ever, for you have been taken from us way too soon. Tim... I will always remember you as coming in late to roll call everyday with flip flops on. Getting dressed and dropping ur pants to tuck in ur shirt during roll call while blasting ur iPod... I will always remember how you bought a racetrack and matchbox cars for my sons and played it with them during 023 open house... You will be forever missed.

You made me Laugh Hysterically and now you make me cry. You were always there to back up your fellow Cops and provide levity at the right moment. It's the end of an era. The Old Town Hall 023 Dist is no more and policing will never be the same. Unfortunately, I won't be able to see you off. Heaven has a very funny angel who also carries a gun and a star. Thank you for your service.

Timmy will always hold a special space in my heart. He will be most remembered as kind, generous, witty, funny, charming and infinitely intelligent. It was an honor to call him a friend. I will never forget his smiling eyes and his laugh. I'm going to miss those cryptic posts on Facebook as well! He spoke often of his son, and his love for him was, and still is, infinite. Timmy will forever remain in my heart and memory as one of the funniest, silliest, most artistically talented, thoughtful, sweetest, kindest men I have ever met. My most sincere and deepest sympathy to his loved ones and friends. Tim was one of the funniest, wittiest people anyone could have known. His use of words, puns, and associations was dizzying! He had a huge, contagious smile and an even bigger heart. Even though I haven't seen Tim in years, he touched my life forever. Until we meet on the other side, Timmy...

Tim was a big man with a huge heart. He always gave me something to smile about......either with jokes or bringing around that big ole dog. I will sincerely miss you Timothy, thank you for the pictures, the laughs and all the great memories. Prayers to the family.

I met Tim during one of the first Crisis Intervention Team trainings at CPD. He stood out head and shoulders amongst a group of excellent officers. He was a sincere, caring professional and individual and we will miss him greatly. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
