Remembering Tim Nylen today who passed two years ago. He was a significant contributor and innovator to the advancement of the health and welfare of the Monterey Peninsula. He was also our dearest friend and part of our extended family.
He was, kind, considerate, thoughtful, gracious, sharp as tack, and incredibly generous.
He was the best of best friends. We thought of him as our son, and brother.
You'll be with us always Tim. Miss you and our 22 years together. Gone to soon. Rest in Peace.

I met Tim at work many years ago. He was always generous to me but more importantly, he was kind. I had wondered what happened to him because I hadn´t seen him in a long time. I decided to search his name and to my dad surprise I found his obituary. My sincerest condolences to his family. He truly was one in a million and I will miss him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who knew and were blessed to be around Tim. Although I haven´t seen Tim in many years, I can still vividly picture him from our days in South Holland, which included trips to West Beach and of course our famous spot the Bridge.
The memories are fond and happy

I was saddened by news of Tim´s passing. But reading of what a tremendous person he became brought a flood of great memories from our younger days. Aside from being insightful and funny, he was a warm and loyal friend.
My deepest condolences to the Nylen family.

Like so many, I'm heartbroken by this tragic loss. I've known Tim since he arrived on the Central Coast 22 years ago. Tim was bigger than life; a gentle giant, generous and thoughtful, personable, funny, passionate, and smart.
He deeply loved his work, the people of CHOMP/Montage, his family, friends and the community he served. He was outward focused: always putting others first. He made everyone feel special.
He was a really good listener, with a refined taste in music, food, and wine. I'm so very grateful for our long standing friendship. Those size 15 shoes will be impossible to fill!
I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

My life has truly been blessed by knowing Tim and the honor of being his friend. We were friends and met through our nonprofit work. We first met through our mutual work with JDRF on the Monterey Bay Area Chapter board. My son is a Type 1 diabetic and Tim was forever a wonderful supporter offering his special kind of caring to me as a mom. We also did so much wonderful work together with United Way Monterey County. There was never a time I could not reach out to Tim via a phone call or text where he was not immediately responsive including personal support a couple times when I was admitted to CHOMP. Knowing that Tim would simply `show up´ always warmed my heart.
Trying to imagine the absurdity of a world without Tim Nylen´s contagious smile, heartfelt caring and friendship is beyond comprehension.
Your friend forever, Sandi Eason

I suppose if I had to pick one word to describe Tim, it would be generous. In all ways. And especially with his time and his heart.
I will always remember our lunches. We had a lot of them over 20-plus years, covering a whole bunch of ground and building a beautiful friendship in 60-minute increments. And, suffice it to say, he had to do plenty of listening.
We would pick our favorite spots, order our favorite foods, and talk about life. Our jobs, our challenges, our hopes, my kids, his family. Always, he would listen unconditionally, no matter the topic, no matter how challenging the conversation. I could tell him anything.
Inevitably, he would end our sessions by picking up the tab, saying thank you, and reminding me how much he cared about and would always be there for me. No matter what.
But before standing up and taking those giant strides out of the restaurant, he would always leave me with a story that made me smile or laugh. He didn´t like serious or sad goodbyes.
I will miss him tremendously. I already do.

I always looked up to Tim. Literally! He at 6'8" and me at 4'8". The first time we met, we were walking towards each other in the corridor at CHOMP. We both just kind of chuckled at our size difference. I told him I did not play basketball and he said he didn't either. That was the beginning of a professional friendship that I always cherished. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by so many. Rest well Tim, your work here is done.

My deepest condolences to Tim's family. Such a genuine, humble human being. Spoke with Tim regarding the Dentistry for Vets for my uncle who is a Marine Vet and without hesitation, Tim was so willing to help me get the information needed to assist my uncle in getting an appointment. Any time he would see me in the hospital he would take the time to stop and ask if everything worked out for my uncle. Montage has lost an amazing one and will be greatly missed.

Tim was such a wonderful person. So personable. He always had a smile, and he gave the best hugs. Whenever I needed and answer for something, I would almost always call Tim. If he wasn't the person I needed, he would direct me to that person. Ironically, he was usually "that" person. I never heard him speak to anyone like they were less than. He made everyone feel important. He is already missed.
